Ecuador suma otros 457 casos de COVID-19 pero Guayas, la más golpeada, solo 3

Ecuador sumó este domingo 457 casos de COVID-19 y elevó su cifra de contagios a 50.640, aunque en la provincia de Guayas, cuya capital es Guayaquil, la más golpeada por la pandemia del coronavirus, solo se reportaron tres casos positivos en las últimas 24 horas.

El reporte oficial de hoy sobre la pandemia, difundida por el Ministerio de Salud, advierte de que en el país ha aumentado en 34 la cifra de muertos por coronavirus, para llegar a un total de 4.233, pero no se reportaron fallecidos en Guayas, que la víspera llegó a 1.542 decesos por esta enfermedad.

En el apartado de «fallecidos probables» por COVID-19, es decir sobre decesos con síntomas de la enfermedad, pero que carecen de confirmación forense, la cifra se situó este domingo a nivel nacional en 2.872, lo que supone 62 más que la víspera.

En cuanto a las estadísticas por provincias, a Guayas le sigue, según el número de contagios, Pichincha, cuya capital es Quito, que sumó 151 en las últimas 24 horas para totalizar 5.902 casos positivos.

Pichincha, además, registró 448 fallecidos, 12 más que el sábado, aunque esa cifra es menor a la de la provincia costera de Manabí, vecina de Guayas, que lleva 560 muertos, aunque en las últimas 24 horas tampoco se registraron en esa jurisdicción nuevos decesos.

Manabí alcanzó este domingo los 3.761 casos positivos, 45 más que la víspera, y es seguida por Los Ríos, con 2.074 casos positivos, y El Oro que acumuló 1.790 contagios, según precisa la estadística del Ministerio de Salud.

Ecuador se encuentra actualmente en un proceso de cambio de fase de la estrategia epidemiológica para encarar la pandemia del COVID-19, que supone pasar del aislamiento masivo al distanciamiento físico con el levantamiento paulatino y coordinado de las restricciones a la movilidad humana que entraron en vigor con el estado de excepción el 16 de marzo.

La capital, Quito, inició hace dos semanas una nueva etapa de desescalada y pasó del color rojo al amarillo en el semáforo epidemiológico, lo que se ha traducido en la reanudación parcial del transporte público.

Además, una reducción en el horario del toque de queda que ahora inicia a las 21.00 horas y termina las 05.00, y mayor actividad comercial y laboral que se ha visto en las calles de la urbe, habitada por unos tres millones de personas. EFE
